You will process new foreign patent applications worldwide (EPC, PCT, National and non-convention cases). You must have current knowledge of foreign filing requirements, renewal data, and expiration data.

You will prepare and review correspondence from foreign associates regarding new applications, formal requirements, and filing details; be responsible for certification/legalization of formal legal documents; preparing patent documents, acceptance notices, filing reports; ordering formal drawings and certified copies from USPTO; process formal documents to foreign associates; maintain foreign filing docket as necessary for work assignments.

Requires 3+ years of current/recent foreign filing/ IP experience, 3+ years of foreign patent experience, US patent filing a definite plus. Some college, strong communication skills and experience on docketing software preferred.

Dynamic DC law firm is looking for an experienced Foreign Filing Specialist to support a Partner in a busy IP Practice. You will be working for their number one partner and will be handling his foreign filing as well as his billing. You are the key player in this department. Firm will consider a strong Patent Prosecution Secretary with foreign filing experience and PCT at the national stage. Duties include: maintaining and monitoring the docket for all foreign actions, including attorney actions; following up with attorneys and/or secretaries to ensure actions are being handled in a timely manner; reviewing U.S. application files, preparing all PCT and direct national application filings with reporting letters to clients; reviewing, monitoring and sorting all incoming mail as appropriate, distributing mail as required and reviewing foreign outgoing mail as necessary. You will also handle the billing using Elite.

The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of foreign filing experience in a law firm and be professional, organized, team-oriented and very seasoned in prosecution. Great position for a candidate looking to work with minimal supervision. Experience with CPI and Elite a plus.
